Beatification Of Carlo Acutis

Italy Closer to First Millenial Saint

Beatification of Carlo Acutis

Teenager Died from Leukemia in 2006

Fifteen-year-old Carlo Acutis died within a week of being diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Carlo Acutis, whose computing skills led him to be called "the patron saint of the internet," died in 2006 at the age of 15. The young layman was born on May 3, 1991, in London, England, and died on October 12, 2006, in Monza, Italy.

On May 23, 2024, Pope Francis recognized the second miracle needed for the canonization of the Italian Blessed. The Catholic Church is now one step closer to having its first millennial saint.

Acutis was a devout Catholic who spent his short life helping others. He volunteered at a soup kitchen, visited the sick, and taught catechism to younger children. He also had a passion for computers and used his skills to create websites about his faith.

In 2010, Acutis was declared Venerable by Pope Benedict XVI. In 2018, he was beatified by Pope Francis, which means he is now considered a saint in the Catholic Church.

The second miracle attributed to Acutis involves the healing of a Brazilian boy who was suffering from a rare pancreatic disease. The boy's parents prayed to Acutis for his intercession, and the boy was miraculously healed.

Acutis is a role model for young people around the world. He showed that even in a short life, one can make a big difference in the world. His canonization would be a powerful reminder that we are all called to live our lives with purpose and compassion.
